The junta’s targeted airstrikes on civilians

From 1 February, 2021 to 21 February, 2023, the military council’s airstrikes killed 248 civilians and wounded 265 others, according to our BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor’s record.

Breaking down the number of civilian casualties in regions and states resulting from the junta’s airstrikes, Kachin State tops the list of civilian deaths with 87 while Karen State sees the highest number of civilian wounds with 96.

Compared to the number of civilian casualties in townships resulting from the junta’s airstrikes, Hpakant Township stands first on the list of civilian deaths with 81 and Hpapun Township sees the highest number of civilian wounds with 44.

The junta’s airstrikes have displaced around 61,050 civilians across the country.

According to the BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor’s record, 288 days of airstrikes were recorded since the junta’s coup attempt on 1 February, 2021 till 21 February, 2023. The number of airstrikes may exceed a two-digit number.
