Woman killed by indiscriminate shootings in Mindat

A 40-year-old woman was killed in Mindat of Chin State on the morning of December 12nd due to indiscriminate shootings by the junta’s troops, according to locals.

A local from Mindat said: “The junta’s troops fired shots as a young man ran away at the inspection camp at the Kanpetlet junction in the west of Mindat, at around 10 am on December 12nd. The bullet hit and killed a 40-year-old staff from the Agriculture Department while she was in the house. She died on the spot. She was cremated yesterday. Today, her parents built a gravestone for her.”

The name of the victim is Daw Lain Lai,40. Due to the pressure by the junta’s troops, she was cremated yesterday.

Due to indiscriminate shootings by the junta’s troops, two locals including a staff from Mindat Township General Administration Department died and a child was injured by heavy shells.

According to the Mindat Post, the junta’s troops arrested a pastor from Kyardoe village, at the inspection gate near the Construction junction in Mindat for alleged link with the Chinland Defense Force (CDF) and took him to No.274 Battalion for interrogation, at around 5 pm yesterday.

In addition, fighting took place between around 120 soldiers of the military council and a combined force of CDF-Mindat and the People’s Defense Force (PDF)-Kyaukhtu, between Shanaungtha and Kyee villages in Mindat Township, from 3.30 pm to 5 am yesterday.
