During the two-week period from 29 January to 11 February 2026, armed clashes continued across Myanmar, with the military junta sustaining significant casualties. The number of airstrike events also increased compared to the previous two-week reporting period. Sagaing Region recorded the highest number of airstrike events, while the number of aerial attack incidents in Chin State, Magway Region, Kachin State, and Karen State was also higher than in the preceding two-week period.

On the morning of 5 February 2026, the junta carried out an airstrike on the Mingalar Monastery in Thit Say Kone Village, north of Taze Township, Sagaing Region. The attack killed five civilians, including a novice monk aged 12, two women aged approximately 40, and two men aged approximately 50. An additional 14 civilians were also wounded, including two novice monks. According to the village administrator, the junta aircrafts not only dropped bombs but also fired heavy machine guns and rockets. 1

Also on 5 February, the junta carried out an airstrike on Mi Ae Village, Saw Township, Magway Region, killing five local women rangin in age from 10 to 70 years old, and injuring two women. Witnesses reported that prior to the airstrike, which occurred in the absence of any active combat, a UAV (drone) operated by the junta’s Kyaukhtu-based artillery unit had been flying in the area. 2

On the afternoon of 10 February 2026, the junta conducted an airstrike on Tlang Khua Village in Thantlang Township, Chin State, killing six civilians including one elderly man, and injuring seven others including children. 3 Also on 10 February, the junta carried out more than ten airstrike events using three jet fighters against Chet Kan Village in the southern part of Pauk Township, Magway Region, killing five civilians and injuring 13 others. 4

During the two-week period from 29 January to 11 February 2026, BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor recorded a total of 67 aerial attack events across the country: 43 fixed-wing aircraft bombing events, 10 drone bombing events, and 10 attack events involving paramotors and gyrocopters. Across these incidents, at least 45 civilians were killed, including children, novice monks, students, women, and men, and at least 102 civilians sustained injuries.

The military junta’s systematic aerial bombardment continues to pose the gravest daily threat to the lives and security of the people of Myanmar. Neither civilian populations nor resistance forces currently possess the capability to effectively counter or neutralize these aerial attacks. Therefore, the scale and frequency of the junta’s airstrikes against civilians demand urgent, practical, and concrete action from the international community, including ASEAN member states and international governments, to bring these attacks to an immediate halt.
