The Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) is aiming for a revolution in 2023 in which all ethnic groups in the state will unite and participate, said an information officer of the armed organization.
“Unity of ethnic people in Karenni means unity of ethnic groups and organizations, especially armed groups and PDFs in the state. Through the unity of all these forces, we want to advance the revolution by joining hands with other forces across the country,” the KNDF official said.
The year 2022 is a year of success in cooperation with Karenni resistance forces, he said.
In 2022, the KNDF and the Karenni joint forces fought 341 battles that resulted in nearly 800 deaths on the side of the military council and captured some of the frontline camps of the regime military, the KNDF said Jan. 6.
The ethnic armed organization further stated that 65 KNDF soldiers died bravely during the battles and have gone down in history as martyrs.
They also captured 33 light weapons and seven heavy weapons and a large amount of ammunition during the battles. Reportedly, 11 prisoners of war were taken and seven regime soldiers joined the CDM.
According to the statement, the military regime carried out 150 airstrikes and multiple shelling with heavy weapons, killing 13 civilians and injuring 64.
The information released by the KNDF was gathered from the activities of its 21 battalions during the year.
