“The junta’s administration has been largely disrupted. We can’t yet confirm if it’s now on the verge of total collapse. But at the moment, the junta’s administrative mechanism is almost destroyed. As far as we know, the junta is now mainly focused on defense now.” – Bo Mike Khe, leader of Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT)

An interview with Bo Mike Khe, leader of the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT), on the status of the Myingyan District Special Operation”.

Since 10 August, the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT), together with Myingyan District Battalion No. 9 and other units in Myingyan District, local defense forces and joint People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), has been conducting a “Myingyan District Special Operation” in Natogyi, Myingyan and Taungtha Townships in Mandalay Region.

Within days of the operation, military junta’s employees from departments and non-CDM personnel in Myingyan town began to flee. As a result, some of the junta’s administration came to a halt.

Shanni Voice conducted this interview with Bo Mike Khe, leader of the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT), on the current status of the operation in Myingyan.

Q: Is it true that within days of the special operation in Myingyan, the military council staff fled and the administrative functions were suspended?

A: Yes, that is correct. Many of the staff here, including many non-CDM staff, fled to safer areas. The junta’s administration has been largely disrupted. We can’t yet confirm if it’s now on the verge of total collapse. But at the moment, the junta’s administrative mechanism is almost destroyed. As far as we know, the junta is now mainly focused on defense now.

Q: Is the special operation in Myingyan District still going on? What is the current situation with the fighting?

A: Yes, it’s still ongoing. The situation is very tense at the moment.

Q: What is the current situation on the ground while the operation is underway? Are residents having to flee their homes?

A: There are quite a number of residents who are fleeing their homes. But there are also a lot of people who are staying in their own homes and yards. There are many differences – some are fleeing, others are staying in their homes. In the current circumstances, we don’t see the military council opening schools.

Q: After the attack on the substation in Taungtha, the Singapore-based company announced the temporary closure of Sembcorp Power Myanmar – a natural gas power plant, Myingyan. Do you think this will make the current special operation much more effective?

A: I can’t answer that exactly because I don’t have enough information about it yet.

Q: Do you have a message you’d like to convey to the public about this operation?

A: We’d like to warn the public to be careful in the current situation. We’d also like to ask the public to support this operation as much as possible.
