Four People’s Defence Force (PDF) soldiers, including U Chit, who led flash mob protests against the military coup in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State, have been reportedly killed in prison by the coup regime, according to a source familiar with them.

On April 25th, the SAC opened fire on a house in Rampur ward where PDF soldiers were staying. In the raid, two PDF members were killed at the scene and four others were arrested.

Among the four PDF members arrested by the junta was protest leader U Chit. The two were tortured to death in their prison cells, a source familiar with them told KNG.

“It has been about ten days since we heard that leader U Chit and another member were tortured and killed in detention. So far, we have only heard that one of the two killed is U Chit. We are still trying to find out the other one,” the source said.

The SAC reportedly interrogated the four PDF members by stabbing them all over the body with sharp toothpicks.

The two PDF soldiers currently being held in prison are also in critical condition, the source said.
