Two men killed in the military council’s indiscriminate shooting in Wetlet

Two civilians were killed in the military council’s indiscriminate shooting in Wetlet Township in ShweBo District, according to locals.

The military council burned civilian houses in Aung Chan Thar village in Wetlet Township.

A local woman said: “Soldiers burned a rice mill. The manager’s office and a house were burned. Junta soldiers burned paddy and a boiler. The boiler is very expensive.”

The junta soldiers from the North-East Command in Shan State arrived in Musoechone village on 28 February. They burned the houses in south Lalkai village and Aung Chan Thar village.

An official of the PDF said: “Junta soldiers burned houses in Aung Chan Thar and fired shots. There are reports of casualties. Some soldiers who arrived on 24 February are from Shan State. They are led by guides.”

Acting on the tip-off from military informants, the junta soldiers burned the houses in Musoechone Station village citing that the houses are owned by the PDF members, according to locals.

They burned down more than 10 houses and a rice mill. A 60-year-old man was shot dead by the junta soldiers when the people from Musoechone Station village fled for safety due to the military council’s arson. The military council’s artillery shelling hit and killed an old woman, locals said.

Since the first week of March till date, the military council soldiers have been carrying out military activities near Musoechone Station village, south Lalkai village and Aung Chan Thar village in Wetlet Township, according to locals.
