Two bodies of internally displaced persons (DPs) were found burned near Kaingyoe village in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, according to people helping the IDPs.
“We heard that they were burned when they returned home to get their clothing packages and blankets that they had forgotten. They were only IDPs and had no weapons,” one of them said.
The two men were found burned along with their motorcycles near Kaingyoe village around 11 pm on 17 February, they said.
The victims were two men – one in his early 20s and another in his early 30s.
The identities of the two men could not yet be confirmed, they said.
After military council forces entered Kanbalu Township with around 120 soldiers, more than 10,000 residents of Htankone and Zigon areas had to flee to safety and were in desperate need of food.
