Three junta soldiers, including a captain, were killed and one injured in clashes between Beikthano People’s Defence Force (PDF) and military council troops in Myothit Township, Magway Region, according to a statement from the resistance group.

The PDF members were on a campaign to control their territory in Kani village, Myothit Township, on August 9 when a junta informant attracted about 30 military council troops, leading to an armed confrontation.

In the exchange of fire, the resistance group lost six members, including a senior member, because the military council troops troops fired with disproportionate force, they said.

The Beikthano PDF declared the six fallen comrades heroes of their resistance group and vowed to continue their struggle with the remaining members until the ultimate goal of overthrowing the military dictatorship is achieved, the statement said.

The Beikthano PDF also called on the people of Myanmar to join the struggle against the military dictatorship.
