The Central Committee of All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) issued a statement dated 16 October, saying that it has terminated three members including U Myo Win, Vice-Chair of ABSDF, who attended the 8th Anniversary of the Signing the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) organized by the military council, from their political and military duties.
This decision was arrived at the emergency meeting of the ABSDF’s Central Committee held on 16 October.
The ABSDF terminated three comrades who attended the 8th Anniversary of NCA on their own will, which was held illegally, from their political and military duties,” ABSDF spokesperson Comrade Sunny said.
Three comrades whose duties are terminated by the ABSDF are: Vice-Chair Comrade Myo Win, Battalion Commander Comrade Min Zaw and Comrade Saw Maung Maung Oo, Comrade Sunny confirmed.
Their respective political and military duties have been terminated as they attended the ceremony on their own will, contrary to the ABSDF’s principles, attitudes and stances, the statement said.
The statement continued to say that the ABSDF warned them not to continue doing the acts that oppose the ABSDF’s attitude and stances.
Established in 1988, the ABSDF signed the NCA in 2015.
The ABSDF, Chin National Front (CNF) and Karen National Union (KNU) issued a joint statement on 12 October, saying that the NCA was void due to the military council and that they would not attend the ceremony to mark the 8th Anniversary of the NCA.
