Myanmar is facing a deterioration on all fronts in the wake of the military coup, said officials of the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU).

“We have understood that the military dictatorship is firmly built with the military, the military government and the military bureaucracy. We have assumed that the public will really escape from the general crisis only when we can root out the military dictatorship and make efforts for the freedom of the public. All crises in Myanmar are the result of the notorious military dictatorship which is the common enemy, which has existed since many years,” Ko Min Khant Naing, a CEC member of the ABFSU told the DMG.

It has been one year and five months since the military staged the attempted coup on February 1st, 2021.

Till May 17th, 2022 since the coup, the military killed 1,844 dissidents and arrested 13,713 others, according to the report released by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).

The military council has detained more than 30 students including Ko Wai Yan Phyo Moe, Vice-Chair of the ABSFU. Many students remain behind bars.

The military council detained three persons including former chair of the ABSFU Ko Nyi Min Thu. Then, they were killed at the interrogation camp, according to the ABSFU.

“The Fascist troops are fully responsible for the people killed in the Spring Revolution and the fights for the democracy in the successive era, the burning of villages, rape, murder, torture, violent arrests and killings,” Ko Min Khant Naing continued.

Due to the military’s violence, the public are fighting against the military council by taking up arms, according to the ABSFU.

“We support and recognize the students who are defying the military council. In my view, they would achieve success in one day. Because the international community has paid attention to the National Unity Government (NUG). We believe that we will achieve success if the current situations continue,” Ko Oo Than Naing, a CEC member of Arakan State Students’ Union added.

The public have been protesting against the military coup by different means although the coup has been going on for over one year.

On the other hand, there has been intense fighting between the military council troops and the Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs), in the wake of the coup.

The military council is trying to hold the peace talk with the EAOs so as to end the armed conflict in Myanmar.
