Sounds of explosions and gunfire heard near Mingaladon air force base, inspection tightened

Explosions and gunfire were heard near Mingaladon airport and air force base in Yangon Region on 6 April, locals told the Narinjara.

“Explosions are very loud. The people from North Okkalapa and Mayangone Townships heard explosions. The military council soldiers are doing tightened inspections. My vehicle got inspected,” a person from the 10th mile said.

Around five rounds of explosions were heard at 9.30 pm on 6 April, according to locals.

According to the posts circulated on social media, around five rocket launchers were fired into Mingaladon airport via ZayKabar compound.

The pro-military page which shares the military council’s news posted that “At around 9 pm on 6 April, the PDF terrorists attacked Mingaladon International Airport with five rocket launchers.”

Military council soldiers conducted checks on mobile phones and vehicles at the roads connecting to Mingalardon Township, North Okkalapa roundabout, the roads heading to 10th mile, Shwepyithar and Danyingone junction.

At around 10.30 pm, the military council and police members were patrolling in North Okkalapa Township, locals from North Okkalapa Township said.

The Narinjara is still unable to confirm which organizations carried out attacks.
