Four civilians, including an 8-year-old child, were killed in a junta airstrike in Saw Township, Magway Region, according to local residents.
Locals said that the military council dropped 250-pound bombs from the air on Ah Nyar Ka Tin village, Saw Township, around 10 a.m. on 1 May.
“Although there were no clashes, I don’t understand why they carried out the airstrike. The attack may have been triggered by a post shared on the military-aligned People Media platform on 29 April,” said Ko Aung Gyi from Yaw Alinn Tan.
On 29 April, the military council’s propaganda media named People Media posted a video clip alleging t that defense forces were making bombs inside a school in Saw Township.
A jet fighter from TadaU carried out an airstrike on a school in Ah Nyar Ka Tin village, Saw Township, despite the absence of any fighting, killing residents who lived nearby.
The airstrike killed eight-year-old Ma Khun Set Cho, 65-year-old Daw Ma Kyi Lay, 52-year-old Daw Tin Tin Khaing, and 38-year-old Daw Pyar Thar from Ah Nyar Ka Tin village.
Additionally, local residents said that five civilian homes and a school were destroyed in the airstrike.
On 16 April, an airstrike was carried out near Kan Chaung village, Saw Township, but no civilians were injured.
