Forty-one revolutionary forces issued a joint statement saying that coordinate will be made between relevant organizations to help the people who want to move to a safe place as civilians against the People’s Military Service Law of the military council, to affiliate with organizations.
In the joint statement dated 5 March, the revolutionary forces said that they would step up their efforts to eradicate dictatorship and that they would respond with five points in order to prevent the military council’s plan to implement the military service law.
Daw Hnin Hnin Hmway, Spokesperson of the General Strike Committee (GSC) said: “The junta’s kidnapping and extortion have raised public concerns. No one wants to fight for the army. We want to show that the people are not helpless and that revolutionary forces are oneness when it comes to where to go for the people who have no land to run to and no money to give.”
Coordination is to be made to help those who want to move to military-free areas as ordinary civilians, to affiliate with relevant organizations for.
Efforts will be made for long-term livelihood and survival of them, the statement said.
The revolutionary forces will try to provide necessary resources to those who are being forced into military service for various reasons to counter the actions of the military council. They have offered other civil society organizations and citizens to participate in the revolution.
“The revolutionary forces, including the GSC, and the people must work together to overthrow the military dictatorship and the junta. We issued this statement with the thought that the international community needs to stand with us in terms of military, politics and diplomacy by understanding the fact that our country is at war and the junta is committing arbitrary arrests and killings of civilians. The military junta must be overthrown,” said Daw Hnin Hnin Hmway.
The military council has been facing a gradual decline in the number of soldiers as the Spring Revolution has gained momentum.
As a result, the People’s Military Service Law has been enforced. The revolutionary forces have said that it is only an illegal decree because it is an illegitimate junta that has seized power illegally.
Many young people are taking refuge in the liberated areas as the people who are either eligible or ineligible for military service are being forced to serve in the military in states and regions after the activation of the People’s Military Service Law by the military council.
Cross-border displacement has also increased, according to relevant local news sources.
