One wounded youth in Mogok paralyzed due to denial of medical treatment

A youth who got gunshot wounds to his backbone and leg in a shooting by the military council in Mogok in Mandalay Region, suffers from paraplegia due to a delay in receiving medical treatment, the persons close to the family.“He did not get immediate medical treatment. The hospital refused to give medical treatment to him as the family did not get the signatures of the commander of the Mogok tactical operation command. The patient has to receive treatment with traditional medicine. The family members can ask him about his health condition” a person close to the family.

He was wounded in the shooting by the military council in the third week of May. Soldiers are standing guard over him on time.

On May 19th, the military council’s soldiers in a car fired shots at two youths on a motorbike in Mogok.

The military shot them as they did not stop the motorbike near the home for the aged in Mintadar ward in Mogok.

A youth got a gunshot wound. The military arrested the rest, according to locals.

It is still unknown why the military shot and arrested the civilians. Security has been tightened in downtown as there is the news that the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) may enter downtown Mogok, locals say.

On May 20th, the PDFs fired shots at Shwepyi police outpost in Singu Township on Mandalay-Mogok road.
