One killed, one injured in heavy shelling in Dawtawku village of Demawsoe

Heavy shell fired by the military council killed a 60-year-old woman and injured a 50-year-old man, in Dawtawku village in Demawsoe Township in Karenni State, at around 2 pm on March 28th.

The military council carried out indiscriminate firing of heavy shells although there was no fighting.

A family member of the victim said: “At around 3 pm yesterday, a heavy shell fell in front of her while she was waiting outside to ride a motorbike. She fell down after the heavy shell hit her head. At that time, she was still alive. She died when she arrived at the hospital. She had severe bleeding.”

The woman got a wound to her head. She died on the way to hospital. The man who got wound to right hand is receiving treatment.

On March 19th, heavy shelling injured two locals in Tanilarlae village in the east of Demawsoe Township.

Since the coup, the military council has killed 235 civilians in Karenni State, according to the statement by the Karenni Civil Society Network (KCSN) released on March 16th.
