A man was injured by heavy shelling fired by the military council near The Methodist Church (Mission Veng) at No.12 region in Tarhan ward in Kalay, at around 3.30 am on April 11th.
“Since around 2.30 am on April 11th, I started hearing the sounds of gunfire. I could not sleep as I heard the persistent firing of gunfire. I don’t know whether it is an exchange of gunfire between the military and the People’s Defense Force (PDF). Later, I heard the firing of three heavy weapons. The sounds are very loud,” a local from Tarhan.
Since April 7th, there have been frequent fighting between the military council troops and the PDF in Kalay. Now, security is tightened.
Since the morning of April 11th, the military has banned Bogyoke Road between Naykyartike and Taungphiplar junction.
