One civilian killed, three including a monk wounded in Muse battle

A driver was killed and three locals including a monk wounded in a battle between the armed organizations near Mawtaungkaungwike village in Muse Township in northern Shan State at night on 2 August, an official of Myint Myat Parami Association in Muse said.

“Even I am going to go to 105th mile to pick up the shooting victim at the request of the family. The shooting victim is a driver near Mawtaungkaungwike,” the official said.

It is still unknown which organizations carried out the shooting, locals said.

At around 9 on August 2, fighting took place between the Palaung State Liberation Front/ Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) and the military council near Tonekhan village between Muse and 105th mile, wounding two children aged 14, according to locals.

The Myint Myat Parami Association sent the wounded children to Muse Hospital on 2 August. The wounded children were allowed to discharge from the hospital as they got minor wounds, the official of the association said.

At the request of families, the wounded children on 3 August, were again sent to Muse Hospital due to bleeding, according to the official.

“The monk was wounded by shrapnel. I think he is not from Tonekhar village. The guns were fired all the time and the fighting was going on, so I had to pick it up quickly,” the official of the association said.

The wounded monk is from Khomone village. He was wounded on his way back after the Waso Robe offering ceremony in Muse. Now he is admitted to Pyin Oo Lwin hospital, according to the Myitta Pankhin Philanthropic Youth Organization in Muse.

Since the second week of July, intense fighting has continued between the military council and the TNLA in northern Shan State, according to locals.

Locals have fled to safer places due to the ongoing fighting. The military council’s indiscriminate shelling wounded locals, according to locals.
