The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) has reportedly begun accepting youths and local civilians who want to flee due to various political situations.
Mi Thaw Ta Zin, an MSFC official, said her organization is currently verifying the personal details of people reaching out to the MSFC and placing them in suitable fields such as education, vocation, and armed revolution.
“They have to come to the designated place with their own contact. Then we will ask them about their personal details and wishes and look after them for about a week. After that, we will connect them with the appropriate areas such as education, health, and vocation in the liberated area they want to go to,” she said.
However, the MSFC will not assist those who want to seek refuge in neighboring Thailand, she explained.
She further explained that after the military council enforced the conscription law, the youths’ lives became increasingly insecure. This prompted their parents to ask their organization for help, leading to the launch of the program.
“We decided to do this, not because we have all the necessary resources, but because we can’t ignore the parents’ requests. And the youth are our future, so I think we should help them now,” she said.
For this reason, the MSFC has also encouraged the youth to make the right decision and free themselves from the military dictatorship.
On 24 February, the Mon State Federal Council announced that people who want to seek refuge in the liberated areas, either because of the People’s Military Service Law recently enforced by the military junta or because of the military situation, can contact the organization. The MSFC also gave its contact telephone number in the announcement.
The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) is a revolutionary organization representing the Mon people and the Mon State is one of the revolutionary groups that formed after the military coup to oppose the coup.
Currently, the MSFC supports schools, displaced women and children, and people injured by artillery shelling in the conflict zones.
