Mother and son killed, three injured in junta’s Kyeintali aerial bombing

A woman and her son were killed, and three men injured in Kyeintali, Gwa Township, Arakan State, when the military council dropped bombs from a jet fighter on the afternoon of 13 February, according to locals.



At around 12 am, the junta dropped two bombs with a jet fighter in Kyeintali town.

The bombs landed and exploded in No.1 ward and No.3 ward,” said a local man from Gwa.

“During this month, the military council has carried out aerial bombings for four times. This afternoon, the bomb landed on a house where a woman and her son were sleeping, killing Both died. Three men from another ward sustained wounds to their backs, hands, and legs,” the local man said.

Those killed in the bombing are: Daw Hla Aye from No.1 ward from Kyintali town and her five-year-old son Maung Phyu Lay. Three injured men are from No.3 ward in Kyeintali town.

The aerial bombing destroyed at least six houses. Locals have fled the town due to the junta’s frequent aerial bombings, a local said.

“The military council’s daily aerial bombings have destroyed or damaged houses and killed civilians. The people have fled to safer areas, as they no longer dare to live there,” the local said.

At around 4 pm on 12 February, the military council’s aerial bombing injured a local man and destroyed two houses in No.2 ward in Kyeintali.

Likewise, on 8 February, a civilian was killed and six others injured and some houses destroyed in the aerial bombing in Kyeintali by the military council’s air force.

At around 4 pm on 4 February, the military council’s air force carried out aerial bombing on Kant Kaw Taung village in Kyeintali Township, destroying religious buildings and seven houses.
