Till 7.30 pm on October 24, the military council had blocked more than 100 people who were injured in the junta’s airstrikes at a music concert on Brigade-9 Territory of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in Hpakant Township of Kachin State.
Although the people who were seriously injured in the airstrikes are in urgent need of medical treatment at Myitkyina and Hpakant hospitals, the military did not allow the social organizations to rescue the injured, at the exit gate in Ginsi village in Hpakant Township, a man who is trying to rescue the injured told the Kachin News Group (KNG).
“In the morning, the social organizations coordinated with the military. The heads from the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) in Hpakant coordinated with the military at the gate. But the military did not allow them to cross the gate. The military still blocks the Ginsi gate,” he added.
The social organizations are trying to resuce the injured. They were waiting for the whole day at the exit of Hpakant Township. But the military did not allow them to enter the area.
The military council bombarded A Nang Pa under the control of the KIA Brigade-9 at around 8.30 pm on October 23 with three fighter jets while the music festival was held in honour of the 62nd Anniversary of the founding of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), which falls on October 25.
Till 1.30 pm on October 24, 58 bodies killed in the airstrikes were found. Till yesterday evening, 20 more bodies were found. Around 80 dead bodies have been found, according to a local from Hpakant, who is doing rescue operations.
The military council has tightened inspections in Hpakant. It is still unknown whether the injured are allowed getting treatment at the hospitals, according to the news sources.
Among those killed in the airstrikes is Kachin singer Aurali from the Kachin Artists Association.
He died on the spot as the military council conducted airstrikes while singing. Among the injured is actor Lahtaw Zau Ding who is also a former chair of the Kachin Artists Association.
Some KIA officers were also killed and injured in the airstrikes. Due to security concerns, the detailed information cannot be disclosed, a local from Hpakant said.
The place where the music concert was held is located about 2 miles from Ginsi village from Hpakant Township.
