Pheung Kya-shin who first revolted against the CPB in 1989 and has both good and bad things. Nonetheless, he is said to be a competent one. He started his armed revolutionary life in 1965. He served as the captain of the Kokang People’s Revolutionary Army led by Jimmay Yang.
He cooperated with the CPB in 1969. He formed and led the MNDAA after revolutionizing the CPB in March 1989. The Kokang group is the first ethnic armed group which first revolutionized the CPB.
After the formation of the MNDAA, he made a ceasefire with the then-military government.
He was a notorious drug lord as he was heavily involved in the drug trade. He took shelter in China after fighting with the military in 2009.
