A mine blast occurred when a military vehicle entered the office of the Bureau Special Investigation in Ayemyathayar ward in Myitkyina of Kachin State at around 8 pm on July 5th, according to locals.
“Before 8 pm, I heard the sounds of two explosions. I heard the sound of one explosion when a military vehicle arrived in front of the office. Due to the explosion, even my house shook,” a local says.
The mine attack on the military vehicle may result in casualties, according to locals.
Locals said they heard the sounds of two rounds of artillery shells before the explosion in front of the office and the sounds of two rounds of artillery shells after the explosion.
Artillery shrapnel hit nearby houses and wounded two civilians in Ayemyathayar ward.
The KNG is still investigating the names of the wounded.
Today, the junta troops are conducting checks on all vehicles in Myitkyina.
From June to July 6th, there were four shootings and explosions at the military’s offices in Myitkyina Township—one at Thida staff quarter on June 2nd, one in the compound of the northern command air base on June 18th, one near Tanphaye village in Myitkyina on June 19th and one in front of the the BSI office on July 6th.
