The police pressured the family of a detained female whose younger brother is a member of Muse-People Security and Defense Army (PSDA) to exchange her for her brother.
At around 4 pm on May 1st, the office of the military-security affairs arrested the elder sister of the PSDA member, in Homo ward in Muse 45th hill in the northern Shan State.
A person who is close to the family members said: “She sells gold wears via online. The office of the military security affairs made an appointment with her to buy gold wears. Then, she was detained. The police told her relative that she would be released immediately if her younger brother gets arrested.”
On March 1st, the office of the military security affairs in Muse Township arrested Ma Nway Yadana Nwe, 27, who sells gold wears via online after making an appointment with her to buy gold wears.
The police said she would be released after the exchange of her with the Muse PSDA’s Commander. Currently, she is being detained at Muse Myoma police station.
The information officer of the Muse PSDA said: “He is a commander of the local PDF. We participated in the protests. The police issued arrest warrants for us. The police are in hot pursuit of us. The military council arrested the commander’s elder sister yesterday. It shows the military council’s standard. They are doing as usual. They are constantly doing vulgar acts.
In early December, 2021, the family declared that the battalion commander of the Muse PSDA who is the younger brother of Ma Nway Yadanar Nwe, has nothing to do with the family, those who are close to the family members, said.
Since the coup, the military council has been arresting anti-coup protestors and protest leaders.
Since 2022, the military council has tried to arrest the family members as it is unable to arrest the wanted persons, an official of Muse People’s Defense Force (PSDA) added.
This is the second arrest of the family member of the PDF. The military council first arrested a relative of a PDF member in early this year. The military said it would release the detainee after the exchange of the detainee with the PDF member.
The military has destined more than 40 civilians who defied the military coup in Muse Township since the coup, according to locals.
