The junta soldiers have threatened locals in Ywangan in southern Shan State to form and join the Pyu Saw Htee, according to locals.

“The military forces the villagers to form Pyu Saw Htee for security of the village. The military threatens to torch the houses in the village if they fail to do it. The military has detained many villagers,” a man from Sinsarpyar village told the Shan News.

The junta soldiers are carrying out the arrest, beating and interrogation of the villagers accusing them of having a link with some members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF).

The military arrested nine people from Sinsarpyar village on the morning of July 5th and then released seven detainees at night.

“The military arrests and interrogates the villagers whether they know the PDF members or not. I don’t know why the military doesn’t release two detainees. However, those released said that the soldiers did not beat them. The arrest and release of the people should not be done with the assumption alone,” he adds.

Currently, the junta troops are in hot pursuit of the PDF members in Ywangan. The soldiers beat and arrest the villagers.

The junta troops are not in a position to make a crackdown on thefts, robberies and injustice which become rampant after the coup. Drug trafficking and gambling are also rampant.
