The military council has banned Winmaung village and Maewaing villages in Bilin Township in Mon State from carrying rations, for alleged links with local People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), according to a local.

A local man said: “Since July, the military has cut rations to my village. The military accused the villagers of providing assistance to the PDFs. The military doesn’t allow more than two people to go downtown.”

The military has mainly banned the people from carrying rice and medicine.

The military and the Border Guard Force (BGF) have opened a checkpoint near Winmaung and Maewaing village. Villagers have to pay around Ks-5,000 to pass the checkpoint.

Currently, the Karen National Union (KNU) has to provide aid to the people in two villages.

In addition to food, the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are in need of jackets due to the cold weather in Mon State, an IDP said.

The fighting between the Tatmadaw and the KNU has displaced more than 3,000 locals in Bilin Township, according to the news.
