More than eight junta soldiers including a head of Sinkaw police station and a captain from KaPaSa-12 were killed in separate attacks in Thayet Township in Magway Region, the information officer of Thayet District PDF told the Than Lwin Times.

On 20 February 20, the PDF attacked Sinkaw police station in Thayet Township with 40-mm grenade launchers. Two launchers exploded in the compound of the police station, killing the police station head and wounding the lance corporal.

The PDF ambushed a light truck carrying 25 junta soldiers from the Defense Equipment Factory-12 who were sent for reinforcement after the attack, between Ponna village and Twinlae village.

Five soldiers including a captain were killed in the ambush.

“The military council forcedly used a civilian vehicle to transport reinforcement troops. We know it only after the incident. The civilian driver was killed in the ambush,” Ko Myat, information officer of Thayet District PDF Battalion-4 told the Than Lwin Times.

The information officer shared the same grief with the family of the civilian killed in the ambush and urged the public not to get involved with the military council.

Since the coup, the military council has been carrying out artillery shelling and airstrikes and committing human rights violations in the strong resistance areas including Magway and Sagaing Region following the coup.

Thayet District Battalion-4 and Moegyo Guerrilla Force jointly carried out the attack.
The military council has deployed more troops and stood guard there.
