Military council files a case against a CDM teacher in Taungup under the Counter Terrorism Law

The police have filed a case against a senior assistant teacher who has joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) from Kanpaing ward in Taungup Township in Arakan State, under Section 50 (j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law, according to the police office in Arakan State.

A police officer from the Arakan State Police told the DMG: “I cannot tell the investigation in detail. I know the charge against her under Section 50 (j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.”

On the morning of November 20th, the police and the military intelligence arrested Daw Cherry Thet Shay from her house, according to eyewitnesses.

A local from Taungup said: “Currently, she is being investigated at the 346-battalion in Taungup. She is not present at the police station.”

When phoned by the DMG to ask about the charge against Daw Cherry Thet Shay, Taungup Police Station did not answer the phone.
