Military council bans fuel transport in Palaw Township

In an attempt to block the supply of fuel into the People’s Defense Force (PDF)-controlled territories, the military council has banned the transport of fuel into Palaw Township in Tanintharyi Region where martial law is declared.

The military council also threatens the fuel stations.

Since 20 February, the military council has imposed a ban on fuel transport in wards and villages. The military council does not allow the public to carry a liter of fuel packed with a water bottle even if the fuel runs out, a local told the Than Lwin Times.

The military council warns the fuel filling stations to sell fuel only to cars and motorcycles, bans the sale of fuel with buckets and threatens that those who transport, buy and sell fuel will be penalized with life-time jail term if they fail to abide by the rules.

Due to the military council’s ban on fuel transport, locals face difficulty in the availability of fuels.

Due to the military council’s ban on the transport of fuel, the fuel price has gone on the rise. Some fuel filling stations were shut down.

In addition to the ban on the transport of rice and foodstuff in Palaw Township where martial law is imposed, the military council bans the transport of fuels.
