The military council carried out airstrikes after the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) seized a military outpost of the military council, in Hpakant Township in Kachin State, according to the Kachin Independence Organization/ Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA).

On the morning of November 14th, the KIA attacked and seized a military outpost in the Battalion-6 under the KIA’s Brigade-9, said Col Naw Bu, the spokesperson of the KIO/KIA.

“I have got information about the seizure of a military outpost. I have not got exact information about the seizure of two outposts yet. Three military outposts are located near the new bridge. Fighting took place at around 7 am. The KIA seized Namjam outpost at around 8 am. The military council’s troops carried out airstrikes till this afternoon. Military tension is high. We all have to be on standby near the Hapkant area,” he added.

Currently, the situation remains stable in other townships although there is a military tension in Hpakant Township in Kachin State, according to the KIO/KIA.

“There is fighting between the military and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in northern Shan State. Military tension remains in Monekoe. I don’t get any information on how intense today’s fighting is. But fighting may erupt at any time there,” he continues.

In addition to the fight with the KIA, the military council’s troops are fighting with other ethnic revolutionary armed organizations and local people’s defence forces (PDFs) in most parts of the country.

Human rights activists have accused that the military council’s troops are committing human right violations in the conflict-affected areas.
