The military council arrested and tortured seven civilians including six women at the strategic military camp in Matupi in the southern Chin State, according to the statement by the Chinland Defense Force (CDF)-Matupi.

On April 21st, the military council arrested seven civilians in downtown Matupi in connection with the defection of two soldiers from Matupi-based military camp to the CDF-Matupi along with three guns.

“The military arrested them for their connection with the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). They are being detained at the military strategic hill,” the information officer of the CDF-Matupi said.

Due to the military council’s torture of the detainees, a female detainee has to receive treatment at the hospital.

Private Chit Ko Ko from Matupi-based strategic military camp and and private Phyo Min from Monywa-based Logistics Unit-929 joined the CDM by defecting to the CDF-Matupi, along with three BA-72, MA-2 and MA-3 guns.

The CDF-Matupi condemned the military’s arrest of the civilians as hostages, tortures and life threat for the return of three guns.

The CDF-Matupi doesn’t make compromise with any terrorist organizations including the military council, according to the CDF-Matupi’s statement.
