Myanmar’s military council troops shot and killed a Lisu man and burned his body in Ward 2 of Alam village in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State, at around 9 p.m. last night, according to local residents.

“He encountered junta troops when he was on his way to the riverbank to check on his bamboo raft. When the junta troops stopped him, he got scared and shot at them as he ran away. We heard that the military council troops burned his body on a pile of firewood on the riverbank,” said a local woman who did not want to be named.

The victim was shot by the regime soldiers shortly after he left his house. At the time of the shooting, the military council troops prevented his family members from leaving the house and also confiscated their cell phones.

According to the source, the man shot by the junta troops is a 35-year-old man named U Le Madee, who is the father of two sons.

The local man was shot when the military council troops not only inspected houses in Alam village last night, but also stopped and checked passersby.
