The Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) issued a seven-point statement on September 9th, warning the people to make necessary preparations as fighting may intensify and there may be more battles in the Karenni State.
A spokesperson of the KSCC said: “We have been revolutionizing the military council since the military coup. The second point is fighting may intensify across the country as the National Unity Government (NUG) declared a state of emergency on September 7th. Our statement is aimed at enabling the people to prepare for their security as there may be more fighting.”
Among seven points were the public’s access to correct information and abiding by security directives given by the Karenni Army (KA), the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs).
Fighting has started in Karenni State since May 21st. The military council reinforced troops, and there was intense fighting on September 7th, the day on which the NUG declared a state of emergency.
Phalkhone PDF also issued a five-point statement for the public on September 9th. Some points are non-essential travel, avoiding paying taxes which generate income for the military dictatorship, not to increase the prices of commodities and the collection of basic foods and medicine.
