The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) under the Brigade-5 of the Karen National Union (KNU) could capture a strategic military outpost on the bank of Thanlwin River on the morning of April 28th, and the tactical commander of the KNLA was killed in the fighting, according to the news sources.
A combined force of the KNLA and other allied forces could capture Kyaukhnyat military outpost. The military council conducted airstrikes.
Colonel Saw Htoo Ka Shaw, the tactical commander of the KNU’s Brigade-5 was killed in the fighting.
“The KNLA could seize the military outpost. The tactical commander was killed in the fighting. They don’t want to recount how the tactical commander was killed as all members feel sorry for it,” a commander from the KNLA who is close to the Brigade-5 told the KIC.
A combined force of the KNLA, the Bamar People’s Liberation Army (BPLA) and an alliance of other forces captured the Kyaukhnyat military outpost of the Battalion-434.
Locals fled to safer places as the military council bombarded Malnuhtar village near the outpost, according to the BPLA’s statement.
The KNU has not released information about the seizure of the military outpost and the death of the tactical commander of the KNLA in the fighting.
The KIC is unable to contact relevant officials to seek comments about the situation.
