The people from all strata should participate in the revolution and are responsible and ready to crush the military dictatorship which is the common enemy of all ethnic people through unity, said Brig-Gen Mann Shar Htoo Waw, Joint Adjutant General of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), at the graduation ceremony of No.9 basic military training course at the Brigade-7 of Karen National Union (KNU), on September 2nd.

The impetus of entire people is a major determinant in order to celebrate a revolution. He also called on all people to participate in the revolution to form a new government composed of all ethnic people.

A total of 226 trainees attended the three-month basic military training course. Among the trainees are those from battalions and units under the brigade and some from the alliance groups and ethnics.

Although the KNU signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) in the time of the previous government, fighting between the KNU and the military council has resumed since the military coup on February 1st.

The military council is carrying out area clearance and offensive operations in some KNU-controlled areas on the ground that the KNU has accepted the people’s defense forces and the National Unity Government (NUG). There are encounters between both sides every day.

In addition, the KNU issued a statement after the coup, saying that it would stand with the people and give protection to the people who were defying the military coup. The KNLA’s top leaders said it would fully resist the military council’s offensive operations in self-defense.

Currently, the military council carried out brutal crackdowns on the peaceful protestors who defy the military coup. Thousands of civilians have been killed in the crackdown. The military council is still arresting and torturing thousands of anti-coup protestors, political party members, students, youths, civil servants, journalists and activists.

Due to brutal crackdowns, educated youths and people from all strata are resisting the military council’s brutal crackdowns while some youths are undergoing military training in the liberation areas so as to revolutionize the military council.

Officers from the KNLA headquarters, officers and battalion commanders and course instructors from Brigade-7 gave speeches at the graduation ceremony and presented the completion certificates and outstanding awards.
