Currently, the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) is standing for Dhamma in the current political situation. The public is required to distinguish between Dhamma and Adhamma. The persons who stand for Adhamma are those who are supporting the dictatorship, said General N’ Ban La, Chair of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) in his message sent to the 61st anniversary of the formation of the KIO.
The six-page address in Kachin language was released on the 61st anniversary of the KIO which falls on October 25th. General N’ Ban La, Chair of the KIO delivered a speech via Alen Yang TV.
In his speech, General N’ Ban La said the KIO tried to coordinate with the successive Myanmar governments. At last, the successive governments forced the KIO to transform into the Border Guard Force (BGF). The NLD-led government elected by the majority of the people turned a blind eye to the suggestions of the ethnic armed revolutionary resistance organizations. The 21st Century Panglong Conference was just a situation in which the ethnic armed organizations had to listen to the orders of the NLD and the military.
The current political situation occurred after the military coup is a never-experienced chance for the liberation of oppressed ethnics across the country. So, the KIO would join hands with any organizations which defy the dictatorship.
On October 25th, 1960, the KIO was formed for the liberation of oppressed Kachin ethnics. On February 5th, 1961, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) was reformed.
