The public needs to be aware of the acts which may create racial conflicts among Kachin and Shan ethnics which have been living peacefully throughout the history, said General N’ban La, Chair of the Kachin Independence Organization/ Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA), in his speech sent to the 62nd anniversary Kachin Revolutionary Day.

General N’ban La said: “I would like to convey a message to Shan ethnics which have been living peacefully with Kachin races. There are misunderstandings and disagreements between tribes as the successive governments which practiced chauvinism and the military dictatorship created disunity. We need to know who the culprit is.”

The speech of General N’ ban La was released in Kachin language. His speech was read out by General Gam Shaung, military chief of the KIA.

“We all are oppressed groups. I would like to convey a message, under this circumstance; time has come for all the people to make efforts to escape from the oppressed life.” General N’ Ban La added.

The successive military governments are the common enemies which created disunity and conflicts among Kachin and Shan ethnics. As all the races encounter the successive military governments’ oppressions, they are in a position to join hands by chanting “to root out the military dictatorship”.

The military council faces a crisis on all fronts. Efforts made by a group alone cannot crush an enemy. Unity among oppressed ethnics and revolutionary forces is of great importance, it points out.

The military council is rooting out and oppressing ethnic races from the hilly regions under the military strategy by chanting the word “peace” on the other hand.

In his speech, 2023 is a crucial year for the military council. In my view, the military council will make all-out efforts to become a legitimate government by holding elections. All the citizens need to monitor it cautiously.

Kachin ethnic groups have been revolutionizing successive military dictators for many years. It is honor to see the Kachin people are playing a leading role in the fight against the dictatorship together with other ethnics by opposing injustice in the Spring Revolution for an end to the dictatorship and equality, the message sent by the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) says.

To mark 62nd Anniversary Revolution Day of the KIO/KIA, the Christian prayer-saying ceremony was held at the KIO’s headquarters in Laiza. Similar ceremonies were held in nearby IDP camps.
