No.5 Battalion under No.8 Brigade of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) seized a military camp near Pan Hkaw Yang on the upstream of Gau Gwi Pa in Shwegu Township in Kachin State, on the morning of June 5th, according to the KIA officer from Mohnyin.
“The news about the seizure of a military outpost is true. They sent a letter to us about the seizure of the outpost in the morning. The military outpost has around 30 soldiers. It is difficult to get detailed information as communication is difficult,” he added.
This is the outpost seized by the military from the KIA’s Battalion-5 in 2014. It is located in Ga Hkyeng Bum region.
The KNG is still asking for detailed information about the fighting as the place where the fighting took place is a remote area.
