Four military bases and police stations in Nam tsit Bum jake mine of Hkamti township, Sagaing Region, were reportedly attacked by Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
At 4 PM of May 22, KIA occupied four places of military council in total – one police station from Machyang Hka village, two police stations and one military base from Nam tsit Bum village’s jake mine, a local from Nam tsit Bum reported KNG. “Machyang Hka police station was burnt and occupied since early morning. Later the police station and military bases located in the area of Nam tsit Bum jake mine were also burnt. I heard all of them have already been occupied.”
He added that after the 31st Battalion of KIA 9th Brigade had attacked those four stations, the military re-attacked via three military planes around 6 AM this morning.
One civilian was hurt due to the clashes in the police station of Machyang Hka village.
Locals told that at least three police officers were hurt and two reportedly died in the fighting.
Locals added that there might have more casualties from the side of military council during the clashes in Nam tsit Bum jake mine.
Machyang Hka village is only one mile far from Nam tsit Bum jake mine, and is located in the south of Nam tsit Bum jake mine.
