The terrorist military council troops are using some detained civilians as human shields in Karenni State, according to eyewitnesses.
Eye witnesses said they saw some civilians detained on August 21st on Phruso-Demawso-Loikaw Road, tying their hands with ropes.
A local witness told the Kantarawaddy Times: “The junta’s troops forced the detainees to wear military uniforms. But they did not button their shirts. The detainees wore normal trousers. Their hands were tied behind their back. The detainees are assumed to be the youths and middle-age men. They are thin. They were surrounded by the junta’s troops at the gunpoint. They were found at Demawso Township at around 1 pm. The junta’s military column covered more than 50 and carried their materials by a white vehicle.”
There may be around 10 victims used as human shields. Some detainees wore military uniforms while some others wore civilian clothes.
Among the detainees are the elderly. The terrorist military council troops have not released yet some civilians abducted and used as human shields in the east of Demawso Township, on August 13th.
