A Seventh-day Christian church and some buildings were damaged or destroyed as the military council bombed Hpwi village, Mindat Township in southern Chin State, on the morning of 19 August, according to a resident of Mindat.

A Mindat resident said: “Bombing hit Hpwi village at around 4 am today. There were no casualties. The bombing damaged and destroyed some houses. The villagers have fled to nearby farms out of fear. There were no casualties as no one was in the village at the time.”

The military council launched the attack after receiving reports that a significant number of Arakha Army (AA) members had entered Mindat Township with the intent to capture the town.

Hpwi village, located nine miles west of Mindat, has approximately 50 households.

On 19 August, the Chinland Defense Force (CDF)-Mindat issued a public warning advising people to avoid gatherings, prepare hiding places near their homes rather than inside them, and seek safety information from local administrators or officials.

They also urged the public to refrain from spreading false information that could cause public panic, as the military council has been carrying out airstrikes recently.
