The junta troops torched a village in Pakokku Township, Shardu village-tract in Magway Region at around 8 am on July 8th, according to locals.
“I see the smoke even in the distance. Fire is huge. The military torches the whole village. The extent of damage is still unknown as I cannot enter the village,” a local says.
The junta troops entered Shardu village which has around 200 households at around 7 am on July 8th. The military torched Shardu village at around 9 am on July 8th.
As the military column entered the village, the villagers fled to safer places. The villagers see their village burning from the distance.
As the villagers are unable to enter the village, it is still unknown how many houses were burned down and the extent of damage is still unknown, according to the villagers.
It is still unknown which battalion enters the village.
In June this year, the military burned down almost all houses in Taungpalu village near Shardu village.
In addition, the military burned down east Kanphyu and Daepyar villages, according to Pakokku locals.
