Junta soldiers kill two locals in Thayetchaung Township

The military council soldiers abducted and killed two local men from Ya Nge village in Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region on the morning of 7 February, locals told the Than Lwin Times.

At around 9 am today, a military column of around 20 junta soldiers entered Ya Nge village near Mindat Bridge. Then, they abducted and killed two local men found on the road.

At around 10 am this morning, the bodies of two local men were discovered near the monastery outside the village, with gunshot wounds to their heads.

Two men who were arrested and killed by the military council are Ko Phyo Nge Zaw and Ko Paing Phyo. Ko Phyo Nge Zaw is a monk student and Ko Paing Phyo is a rubber latex collector, according to locals.

Villagers transported the bodies of those killed to the family members.

In late October, the military council stormed lower Thayetchaung village, killed two locals and burned down two houses.

According to the data from the Southern Monitor, a research organization, more than 306 civilians were reportedly killed in Tanintharyi Region since the military coup.
