Residents report that the bodies of two civilians, who were abducted and killed by a military council unit in Myo Haung village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, have been recovered.

Junta troops launched a raid on Launglon Township in retaliation for an attack on 18 November, in which five junta soldiers patrolling the streets of Dawei were killed.

Residents said that a 150-strong military council column abducted two local men they encountered on the road as they entered Myo Haung village.

The bodies of two detainees—U Kyi Win, in his 50s, and Ko Naung Naung, aged over 30, from Myo Haung village—were recovered by local residents on 21 November.

After the military council column abducted and killed the two local residents, they buried the bodies along a road in the village. The bodies were later recovered by villagers.

The military column that raided Launglon Township looted homes and stole valuables. They also arrested and interrogated some locals, according to residents.

Over 2,000 residents from six villages, including Htein Twin, Myo Haung, Pein Shaung, and Daung Shaung in Launglon Township, fled their homes following the junta’s raids.
