Locals fled to safer places as the military council bombarded Htanpaukkone village in Myaing Township in Magway Region with Mi-35 jet fighter on 9 March, Bo Let Yar, a commander of Battlaion-1 of Myaing-People’s Defense Force (PDF) told the Than Lwin Times.
At around 11 am on 9 March, the military council’s bombardment on Htanpaukkone village near Well-2 oil field wounded a local.
“At present, all the villagers fled to safer places. Three junta soldiers were killed in the battle with the PDF. Today, the military council conducts airstrikes and artillery shelling,” Bo Let Yar said.
The extent of destruction is still unknown. Locals are unable to return to their home, said Bo Let Yar.
Currently, all the people from Htanpinkone village have fled for safety. This is the military council’s fourth strike in Myaing.
On 7 March, the combined force of PDF carried out a drone attack on junta soldiers who forcibly seized the carts loaded with water tanks in Phalankaing village, with. One junta soldier was killed and two others seriously wounded in the attack.
Following the attack, the military council carried out indiscriminate artillery shelling which killed a 42-year-old man and seriously wounded one.
The junta soldiers are stationed in Phalankaing village near Htanpaukkone village in Myaing Township. There are frequent clashes between the military council and the PDFs during this month, locals said.
Over 200 civilians were killed by the military council’s nationwide airstrikes following the military coup, according to the statement by the National Unity Government (NUG).
