Seven civilians, including three children, were injured in airstrikes carried out by the junta in Tha Yet Chaung and Tanintharyi Townships, Tanintharyi Region, despite the absence of ground fighting, according to local resistance forces.
On 3 March, the military council carried out airstrikes with a jet fighter, targeting Tha Mee Hla village in Tanintharyi Township and Win Ka Hpaw village in the Taung Pyauk station of Tha Yet Chaung Township.
Locals report that a jet fighter from Myeik Air Base first bombed Tha Mee Hla village in Tanintharyi Township, followed by an airstrike on Win Ka Hpaw village in Tha Yet Chaung Township.
A local man said the junta’s airstirke on Tha Mee Hla village injured a 12-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl and three elderly women and destroyed some houses.
Similarly, the junta’s airstrike on Win Ka Hpaw village injured four civilians—a 60-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, a 37-year-old man, and his 10-year-old son, according to the spokesperson of the Daung Nyi Naung column.
Among the injured, two elderly men are in critical condition due to serious injuries. The resistance force is currently providing them with medical treatment.
In recent days, the military council has been conducting frequent aerial bombings in villages across townships in Tanintharyi Region, despite the absence of ground fighting. As a result, most local residents are living in fear.
On 1 March, the military council bombed Mar Yan Chaung village in Taku village-tract, Tanintharyi Township, despite the lack of active ground fighting. Some buildings of the monastery were destroyed in the attack.
