After the Arakan Army (AA) attacked the military council’s camp in Myeikwa village in Paletwa Township in Chin State near the India-Myanmar border on the evening of September 1st, the military council responded by bombing the area around the camp with two fighter jets, forcing villagers to flee to safety in India, according to reports.

Myeikwa villagers have sought refuge in refugee camps in the Indian state of Mizoram and are now forced to live in difficult conditions, a villager said.

“Fierce fighting broke out in our village yesterday. Today too, the military council attacked the village with fighter jets. All villagers have fled to safety. At the moment, we are having difficulty surviving,” he said.

The AA launched an attack on the junta’s camp in Myeikwa village between 5 and 7 p.m. on September 1st, leading to fierce fighting between the two sides.

“We heard that the AA captured the Myeikwa camp and that the military council suffered heavy losses. As a result, the military council bombed the area around the camp with two fighter jets this morning,” said a source close to the Arakan Army.

He added that due to the heavy losses, the military council bombed the area around Myeikwa camp with two fighter jets this morning at around 10 a.m.

The regime’s military camp is located near the India-Myanmar border in the Indian state of Mizoram and is of strategic importance.

“The AA has begun to withdraw from the area after its attack on the camp in Myeikwa. The junta has been bombarding the area with fighter jets. The villagers have fled to India for fear of junta airstrikes,” he said.

Regarding the AA attack on the Myeikwa cilitary council camp, at the time of reporting, attempts were still being made to reach the spokesman for AA, U Khaing Thukha, and Rakhine State Minister for Security and Border Affairs, Colonel Kyaw Thura.

Despite reports that AA has taken control of the camp, MPM is still trying to independently verify the news with the relevant persons.

AA released a video today claiming that residents of Myeikwa village are fleeing toward the India-Myanmar border due to the military council’s indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons and airstrikes.

According to reports, fierce clashes broke out between AA and military council troops near Namada and Rimawa villages in Paletwa Township around 12 noon on September 1st.

Also, on August 31st, the AA captured the border guard camp at Mile Post-40 in Maungdaw Township, prompting the military council to bombard the area the next day.
