Children displaced by the fighting in Tanintharyi Region are facing the losses of their basic rights in addition to the rights to education, according to the officials of the Dawna-Tanintharyi IDP support team.
The children displaced by the fighting and heavy shelling are losing their child rights including the rights to education, the rights to play and the rights to happy life.
They are also suffering from insecurities with mental and physical health while some children are experiencing trauma.
“The children are in need of a lot of help to ensure the restoration of their mental and physical feelings to normal conditions,” an official of the Dawna-Tanintharyai IDP support team told the Than Lwin Times.
Like other IDPs, the internally displaced children are facing health, food and shelter problems in the forests.
There are more than 8,000 IDPs in Yayphyu, Dawei, Palaw and Tanintharyi Townships in Tanintharyi Region. The IDP children account for one-third of the total IDPs.
Due to the ongoing fighting during the school open season, the internally displaced children neither return to their homes nor attend the schools.
Dawna-Tanintharyi IDP support team called on the public to provide humanitarian assistance to the IDPs who lost their houses and security.
