Heavy shelling injures two civilians in downtown ward of Kalay

A heavy shell fired by the military council landed on a house in Indainggone (former Hmonhtar) village, injuring a couple, according to locals.

Since around 10 am on April 9th, there was a fighting between the local defence force and the military council troops, in Indaingkone and Myohla wards in Kalay.

The military council troops are stationed on Taungphilar hill in Kalay. It is assumed that the military fired heavy weapons from the hill.

At around 2 pm, the military council abducted around 50 villagers who arrived in a house for the funeral services in Second village near Myohla ward. At around 4 pm, the sounds of an explosion and gunfire were heard near the police station in Sanmyo ward in Kalay.

Since April 7th, the fighting has continued in downtown Kalay. The military council has tightened security there.
