Four civilians wounded by the junta’s artillery shelling in Indaw

Four locals including a 78-year-old woman were wounded by the military council’s intentional artillery shelling into the ration hill in Indaw Township in Sagaing Region.

A local man said: “A 78-year-old woman got wounds to her leg due to the artillery shelling through the Japanese cave. A 24-year-old man and a 30-year-old man from Kyaw village got wounds to their heads and backs. A woman got wounds to her head and neck. She is in critical condition.”

At around 11 am on 21 February, the military council fired heavy shells into the villages through the ration hill (locals call Japanese cave) in Indaw.

The military council’s intentional artillery shelling wounded Daw Dwon, 78, Ko Tin Lin, 24, Ko Myo Htet Naing, 30 and Ma Phyu, 40 from Kyaw village.

Ma Phyu from Moeyuywama village is in serious condition as she gets wounds to her head, neck, face and back. The wounded were sent to Indaw hospital with the help of locals, according to a local from Kyaw village.

The artillery shell fired by the military council destroyed a house in Moeyuywama village in Indaw Township and three houses in Kyaw village.

The shooting took place in Indaw Township on the Sagaing-Kachin border in Sagaing Region. The military council troops, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) are active in that region.
